Interim Senior Pastor Jon Butler
Jon and Joge Butler

Jon spent the first 10 years of his life in Eau Claire, WI, and grew up going to Bethel Baptist Church, where his father was pastor. After a brief season spent near Gettysburg, PA, Jon's family moved to Iowa where he graduated high school at Walnut Ridge Baptist Academy in Waterloo. Jon played football during his time at Northwestern College in Saint Paul, MN, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Social Studies Education. Jon attended Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL, from 2003 to 2007, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree. During this same period, Jon served at Edgewater Baptist Church as an intern, as well as a pastoral assistant. Following a year at Central Fellowship Christian Academy in Macon, GA, Jon and his wife, Joge, are back at EBC. They are both excited to be a part of this ministry – Jon in the role of senior interim pastor and Joge working for the Safeplace After School program. Jon also plans to continue ministry with the Army Reserve as a Chaplain endorsed by the Baptist General Conference (Converge Worldwide). Jon enjoys reading, hiking, and traveling.
